I’ve seen many “Must Do” lists on other travel blogs. Here is my list of things I want to do or try while I’m in Israel. It will be ever evolving. Once I do something – I will add the date I accomplished it and try to write a blog post about it. I will try my best to keep it up to date.

  • Learn how to make hummus
  • Visit the Masada at sunrise
  • Visit the Wailing Wall
  • Hike from the university to the beach (reported to be a 3 hour hike)
  • Attend the Holiday of Holidays festival
  • Visit Akko (Acre)
  • Learn to successfully haggle at the shuk
  • Spend an afternoon in Old Jaffa
  • Have a traditional Shabbat meal with a Jewish family
  • Float in the Dead Sea
  • Visit Yad Vashem, Israel’s official memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
  • Wander the alleys of Old Jerusalem
  • Petra, Jordan
  • The Sea of Galilee
  • The Red, the Dead and the Med
  • A night out in Tel Aviv
  • Eat shwarma, similar to doner kabob
  • Eat jachnun, a popular Yemenite dish usually only served on a Saturday morning
  • Learn to make shakshooka
  • Perfect the art of making Israeli salad
  • Visit a kibbutz
  • Eat halva
  • Find a favorite coffee shop in Haifa
  • Touch the spot where Jesus was crucified
  • Sing Christmas carols in Manger Square, Bethlehem
  • Visit Nazareth
  • Visit a Druze village
  • Find a favorite Israeli wine
  • Master the bus system
